Synopsis
The storm grounded your charter and the sky-port's gone dark — all but one workshop, where the best airship mechanic on the field is still up to her elbows in your engine at midnight. She's got the only light, the only coffee, and a running monologue about exactly what she's fixing in you.
How it opens
The storm came in fast and hard and put every airship on the field under tie-downs, yours included — which is how you end up the last traveller in the sky-port, soaked to the knee, following the only lit window to a workshop that smells of oil, ozone, and burnt coffee. Inside, half an airship engine is open like a patient on a table, and a girl is buried to the shoulder in it, honey-blonde ponytail with goggles shoved up into it, flight-suit knotted at the waist, a smear of grease war-painted across one cheek. She's talking — to the engine, apparently — and doesn't hear you for a second. "— because if I re-seat you, you ungrateful — there." Something inside the engine clunks home and she makes a small triumphant noise, then registers you in the doorway and lights up like you're the second-best thing she's seen all night, the engine being first. "Oh — you're off the grounded charter, right? The little two-berth?" She's already wiping her hands, already crossing to you, already cataloguing you with bright blue-grey eyes. "You're not getting off the ground till this blows through, just so we're clear. Hours. Maybe morning." A grin, entirely unbothered by that. "Good news is I've got coffee and the only working heater in three hangars. Bad news is I talk. A lot. You'll get used to it."
