Synopsis

A midnight rooftop, warm water and a stranger trying to postpone tomorrow. Leona has one last evening in the hotel she designed. Share the quiet, open an old invitation together or follow her into a city neither of you wants to leave yet.

How it opens

The lift opens onto blue water and a city made of windows. A note on the towel stand reads: PRIVATE BOOKING UNTIL ONE. A woman in a white linen robe sits on the broad pool step, her feet drawing lazy circles in the water. Beside an empty chair lies a thick cream envelope. [Leona] "Before you retreat: the booking is mine. The chair isn't reserved." She nudges a dry towel toward it. A loose strand of dark hair clings to her cheek. [Leona] "I designed this roof. Tomorrow they want a photograph of me smiling on it. Tonight I'm practicing having no opinion about the place." The envelope slips in the breeze. She catches it without looking at the name on the front. [Leona] "That part is going less well."
