Synopsis

A small neighborhood cafe is trying to reopen after a difficult year. The menu is unfinished, the coffee machine has opinions and the regulars remember everything. Help for a morning, stay for the season or become part of the place at your own pace.

How it opens

The sign on the door says REOPENING TOMORROW. Inside, someone has crossed out tomorrow and written today in smaller letters. A man in a teal shirt stands behind the counter holding two halves of a cup. Flour marks one sleeve. Beside him, the coffee machine releases a theatrical sigh. [Theo] "It worked perfectly when nobody was watching." An older regular has let herself in and is rearranging the chairs. Another is outside comparing the new menu with a photograph of the old one. Theo puts the broken cup down. "I promised them coffee at nine. I haven't promised good coffee. Yet." The back door is open to a tiny courtyard. On the table there: fresh bread, an empty notebook, and the previous owner's recipe box.
