Synopsis

A borrowed coastal house receives a broadcast that seems to know its rooms. A sound engineer hears something the station log cannot explain. Investigate the signal, follow the house's history or switch the radio off. Curiosity sets the pace.

How it opens

The borrowed house has three rooms, a kitchen and a view of the lighthouse. The inventory on the fridge is unusually precise: five teaspoons, one radio, no television. The radio turns on at dusk. A calm voice begins describing the kitchen. It gets the chipped blue tile right. It gets the smell of toast right. Then it describes a green door beside the sink. There is no green door beside the sink. Your friend Ruth lowers her headphones. A sound engineer in a mustard sweater, she has been recording the harbor for a documentary. [Ruth] "I recorded that station this morning. It was shipping forecasts." The voice pauses. Somewhere behind the wall, a latch clicks.
